Virtual Pets Added to Codex

Virtual pets added to the Codex application

OpenAI has introduced virtual pets by adding innovations to Codex, an AI-powered coding tool. This feature provides an interactive layer that allows users to track real-time updates related to their projects.

With Codex Pets, developers can continue working on their projects without switching between different tabs. This way, they can receive information about the status of Codex; for example, they can understand whether the system is running or waiting for input.

How to Use Codex Pets?

To activate the Codex Pets feature, users need to select the Appearance option from the Settings menu. Then, they can choose one of the built-in options from the Pets section. After enabling the feature, they can start using these virtual pets by typing the /pet command in the text editor. They can also manage the feature more flexibly with the Wake Pet or Tuck Away Pet options.

Users can choose from a total of eight different built-in pets. Additionally, they have the opportunity to create their own custom pets using the “/hatch” command. Many users have already embraced this feature, adding a variety of virtual friends to the platform.

These virtual pets are available on both Windows and macOS operating systems. In OpenAI's announcement, it was mentioned that for a limited time, the ten most popular pets will be offered a 30-day ChatGPT Pro membership.
