OpenAI has introduced a new set of personal finance management tools for its users. These tools became available for preview on Friday for ChatGPT Pro subscribers in the U.S. Users can now analyze their spending and ask questions about future financial planning by linking their accounts.
In this innovation, OpenAI collaborated with Plaid for financial connections. Users will have the opportunity to connect to over 12,000 financial institutions, including major names like Schwab, Fidelity, Chase, Robinhood, American Express, and Capital One. Users who successfully link their accounts will gain access to a dashboard that shows portfolio performance, spending details, subscriptions, and upcoming payments. The scenarios provided by OpenAI's tool also include investment risk analysis and detailed reviews of travel expenses.
How can you access personal finance tools?
Users can access this service by clicking the “Get Started” button under the “Finance” option in the sidebar of the ChatGPT interface. It is also possible to activate the tool by typing “@Finance, link my accounts” during a chat. Following these steps, ChatGPT will guide users through the account linking process via Plaid.
Additionally, it is noted that Hiro, the AI-based finance startup acquired by OpenAI in April, has also played a role in this process. While it is stated that Hiro's expertise has been significant in the development of the product, it is not clear whether all features were created by this team.
The personal finance management tools will be available on both the web version of ChatGPT and the iOS platform for Pro users. The company emphasizes its goal to improve the product based on feedback before offering it to Plus users.
