As Yemeksepeti celebrates its 25th anniversary, it shared data obtained from a total of 1.7 billion orders with the public. Among the shared information, the most striking was the existence of a user who placed orders for 703 consecutive days. Additionally, the contents of a massive cart on the platform were also intriguing; this cart contained a total of 400 products.
User Statistics
Starting its operations in 2001 with a few restaurants in a single city, Yemeksepeti has managed to reach a large user base over time. Initially, in 2010, the number of active users was 900,000, which increased to 1.16 million in 2014, and is projected to reach approximately 13.2 million by 2025. The total number of unique users recorded to date is 37.6 million.
With the diversification of services offered by the platform over the past years, the way orders are placed has also changed. For instance, the proportion of orders placed through the mobile app has risen to 96%, while web-based orders have decreased to 3%.
Moreover, with Yemeksepeti's expansion, the number of business partners has also increased. They currently work with over 135,000 restaurants across Turkey, and this number continues to grow each year.
User Habits and Preferences
Interesting data regarding users' taste preferences has been obtained. For example, among the most preferred foods are lahmacun, ayran, and cola; lahmacun tops the list with a total of 141 million orders. Additionally, common phrases found in notes left by some users when ordering food include requests like "please make it hot" or "extra sauce, please."
Yemeksepeti's CEO Oytun Çalapöver provided information about the company's future goals. He stated that they aim to enhance user experience through investments in artificial intelligence in the upcoming period; in addition, they plan to offer a more personalized experience with innovations such as voice commands.
