Google Translate Introduces Pronunciation Improvement Tool

Google Translate's new pronunciation improvement tool

Google has introduced a new feature aimed at enhancing users' pronunciation skills in foreign languages on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its translation app, Google Translate. This long-awaited feature not only performs text translation but also offers the opportunity to learn correct pronunciation.

With the Practice option available in the app, users can listen to the sentences they have translated or make their own pronunciation attempts. When the Pronunciation option is active, the app analyzes the user's speech and evaluates how words are pronounced with the help of artificial intelligence. This system not only detects incorrect pronunciations and provides instant feedback but also shows the correct pronunciation phonetically.

New Feature and User Needs

It is reported that about one-third of mobile users use Google Translate for speaking and listening practice. This indicates that the new feature is not just an additional aid but a significant development that meets real user needs.

The current pronunciation practice feature is gradually being rolled out only on the Android platform for users in the US and India in English, Spanish, and Hindi languages. It should be noted that Google has not provided a specific date on whether this feature will be expanded to more languages and regions in the future.

Additionally, Google announced updated data regarding the current scope of Translate, stating that the app supports over 250 languages. The platform has more than 1 billion monthly users, translating over 1 trillion words each month.
